Community Comes Together for Reach Two’s Annual Backpack Giveaway

On July 27th, the Ora Lee West Housing Authority community center was filled with smiles, gratitude, and a sense of unity as Reach Two, in collaboration with The Church at Pine Hill Brothers, hosted their annual backpack giveaway. This event was more than just a distribution of school supplies; it was a powerful demonstration of community support and care for the children and families in Valdosta.

Over 100 backpacks, filled with essential school supplies, were given away to children, ensuring they are well-prepared for the upcoming school year. The generous donations didn’t stop there—each child and their family also enjoyed plates of BBQ chicken, lovingly prepared by Cynthia Winston, wife of Reach Two’s visionary, Mr. Aaron Winston. In addition to the BBQ meals, bagged lunches were provided, making sure no one left without a meal to take home.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Jacqueline Johnson from the Valdosta Housing Authority, who has consistently shown her dedication to the well-being of the community. Her presence, alongside the efforts of the volunteers from The Church at Pine Hill Brothers, underscored the collective commitment to uplifting and serving those in need.

Mr. Aaron Winston, the driving force behind Reach Two, organized the event with a heart full of compassion for the community he serves. His vision for the backpack giveaway is not just to provide school supplies but to remind the children that they are supported and valued. “We want every child to know that their success matters to us,” Mr. Winston shared. “This is just one way we can show them that we believe in their potential.”

The atmosphere was one of warmth and fellowship, as families gathered to share a meal, collect backpacks, and connect with one another. Events like this are a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. Reach Two continues to make a lasting impact in Valdosta, and this backpack giveaway is just one of many ways the organization is reaching out and lifting up those who need it most.

As the new school year approaches, the children of Ora Lee West can walk into their classrooms with confidence, knowing that their community stands behind them. Reach Two, The Church at Pine Hill Brothers, and all who supported this event have ensured that these kids are equipped not just with backpacks and supplies, but with the encouragement and belief that they can achieve great things.
